I am lucky enough to be the sports massage support to the inaugural Blind Veterans UK (formerly St Dunstans) charity bike ride from Brighton to Paris.
Just over thirty people will accompany three blind veterans and their pilots on tandems the one hundred and fifty miles to the French capital. I am pleased to say that the organisers have taken me up on my offer of sports massage to keep the riders in tip top shape over the four days of the event. Starting from the Blind veterans building in Ovingdean on May the 12 and finishing under the Eiffel tower in Paris on May the 15 the riders have plenty of miles to pedal and, as part of the support team, I am there to make it easier for them to get back on their bikes on the consecutive days. If you would like to sponsor these hardy souls you can go to www.justgiving.com/cyclebeyondteam. If you feel energetic and fancy a trip to Paris there are just two places left so be quick and contact Rachel on 01273 391455 or email email@example.com.
Blind Veterans UK do a fantastic job of supporting anyone who has been in the armed forces and is suffering sight loss. Not only personnel blinded on active service but any ex-Service men and women who start to experience sight problems in later life. Since 1915, they have provided the free services and lifelong support veterans need to discover life after sight loss. Their three centres around the county provide holidays, respite care, training, residential and nursing care, social activities and recreational activities to help ex-Service men and women come to terms with their sight loss and develop the skills they need to live life to the fullest. They also provide equipment and home modifications which allow veterans to stay in their own homes. Please support them if you can.www.justgiving.com/cyclebeyondteam.
